Event Details

New Media Cincinnati began in October 2007 as a simple meetup group of people in the Cincinnati, Dayton, and Northern Kentucky areas who were passionate about new and social media technologies like blogging, podcasting, Twitter, etc.

The group consists of people who are using new and social media for a living, but also includes people who are simply involved as a hobby. Anyone interested in learning more about these technologies and in connecting with others is welcome to attend. New Media Cincinnati has become, as one attendee remarked, "the premiere social networking event in the Greater Cincinnati area." The group's mission has grown to one of promoting digital literacy in our community.

People who come to New Media Cincinnati Second Saturdays

  • make and foster business and personal connections with at least one other person,
  • have face-to-face time with social media connections made online,
  • learn from one another about social media technologies as we share best practices and other tips
  • have the chance to talk about their own online presence
  • have opportunities to share something they know with the rest of the group
  • partake of food and drink and in general have a great time!

Connecting at New Media Cincinnati Second Saturdays has led to new business and employment for some.

This month we will be meeting at The Pub at Rookwood Mews from 3 PM to 6 PM.

About Vickie Sceifers

Vickie and her husband Don did not have computers in common when they got married 20 years ago, but soon after, when Don mentioned he wanted to join a "pc users group", Vickie realized she better check it out and learn to like computers or become a "computer widow" (you know, like a golf widow). And that's how their shared love of computers began.

In 1999, while attending Raymond Walters College's Electronic Media Technology program, Vickie discovered her love for video and Mac computers. So while she is comfortable on both platforms, or at least used to be, all video and podcasting is produced on her network of Macs.

Vickie started VS Productions three years ago. Her projects include being webmaster of a $1m federal grant program, editing and designing a 20-dvd instructional library for a world-famous oral surgeon, and a variety of clients in HR, restaurants, real estate and training. Two years ago she was introduced to Twitter and social media by none other than Daniel Johnson Jr. at a NMC meetup at Panera in Tri-County. Don, being who he is, had them signed up before the end of the meeting that day.

Today, Vickie's business helps individuals, small businesses, entrepreneurs and basically anyone who needs help marketing their business online.  She believes in a fully rounded approach to an online identity that starts with a website integrated with online video marketing and social networking.

The learning curve can be overwhelming, but VS Productions can help you tame it. If you need new marketing ideas to help you realign for the new economy you've come to the right place.
